This paper articulates a set of principles to guide the choice and interpretation of nonmarket commodities. We describe how complex natural systems can be decomposed consistent with what can be called “ecological production theory.” Ecological production theory—like conventional production theory—distinguishes between biophysical inputs, process, and outputs. We argue that a systems approach to the decomposition and presentation of natural commodities can inform and possibly improve the validity of nonmarket environmental valuation studies. <a link="" target="_blank" href="http://www.rff.org/Publications/Pages/PublicationDetails.aspx?PublicationID=20911" class="plain">Read more>></a></p><p class="plain"><br></p><p class="plain"><font class="highlight">Potential Web Discussion Forum topic during 2010?</font> <br></p>Spatial Interest2009-09-19T11:13:02-07:00The Definition and Choice of Environmental Commodities for Nonmarket ValuationConference Call Notes - August 20, 2009 http://www.spatialstories.com/pc_url_7907781 <p class="plain">Spatial Interest compiled these <a link="" target="_blank" href="http://sitekreator.com/Tools/file_direct_link.html?node_id=7907759" class="plain">notes and observations</a> from the August 20th discussion forum.<br><br>All participants are welcome to read and offer your own comments. </p><p class="plain"><br></p><p class="plain">If you click the cursor <u><i>REPLY,</i></u> a login window will popup.</p><p class="plain"><br></p><p class="plain">You can login as a Guest by entering your name (and optionally an email address).</p><p class="plain"><br></p><p class="plain"><br></p>Spatial Interest2009-08-27T11:52:59-07:00Conference Call Notes - August 20, 2009Initial Meeting: June 19, 2009 http://www.spatialstories.com/pc_url_7465890 <font class="heading1">Documents from the Portland Meeting June 19, 2009:</font><br><br><font class="plain"><a link="" target="_blank" href="http://sitekreator.com/Tools/file_direct_link.html?node_id=7465895" class="plain">Summary of Discussion</a></font><br><br><a link="" target="_blank" href="http://sitekreator.com/Tools/file_direct_link.html?node_id=7465897" class="plain">Flip Chart Notes</a><br><p class="plain"></p>Spatial Interest2009-07-22T21:26:13-07:00Initial Meeting: June 19, 2009Calendar http://www.spatialstories.com/pc_url_7465889 <p class="plain"><iframe width="500" frameborder="0" scrolling="no" src="http://www.google.com/calendar/embed?height=600&wkst=1&bgcolor=%23FFFFFF&src=va4sjcfmp577t22fmaj82o95dk%40group.calendar.google.com&color=%23AB8B00&ctz=America%2FNew_York" style=" border-width:0 " height="500"></iframe></p>Spatial Interest2009-07-22T21:24:51-07:00CalendarPNW Stakeholder Meetings Summary - June 2007 http://www.spatialstories.com/pc_url_7923792 <p class="plain">In June 2007, the PNW Research Station convened stakeholder meetings to discuss ecosystem services, and research priorities.<br><br>Four separate stakeholder sessions were held: <br></p><ul><li class="plain">Private woodland owners</li><li class="plain">Forest Industry</li><li class="plain">Conservation organizations</li><li class="plain">Government agencies</li></ul>Although two years old, the <a link="" target="_blank" href="http://sitekreator.com/Tools/file_direct_link.html?node_id=7923758" class="plain">workshop session summary</a> captures relevant perspectives from each of the four groups.
